The Kundalini

There is an idea out of India, actually, that suggests a source and specific path of energy. The nature of this energy is not really clear (as is most stuff like this). Basically, it is spiritual/sexual/mental (take your pick) energy that, when "activiated" allows the person to reach enlightenment. This energy is called, in general, "Chakra". The "awakening" is accomplished by the channeling of this energy that then allows the person to reach their full potential. This is the "third eye" that is mentioned in so many new age arenas.

I'm not so sure about the whole "full potential" but, but it strikes me as something that Christians should/could take a closer look at. The use and description of the energy sounds an awful lot like a "spiritual experience". While, true this is a slippery slope, I think that this may provide an interesting perspective on the mechanics of how we, as humans and physical and finite beings, can communicate and interact with an infinite and supernatural God, as well as lesser gods.
I think that this provides the foundation for magic, faith, and any other "mysterious" occurrence with which men can involve themselves.

The process of full enlightenment attainment through the channeling of the chakra through the various "gates" in the body is called the Kundalini. The process is interesting in and of itself, but makes me think of some of the more eccentric characters in the bible. I wonder if they experienced "the kundalini" or had more "energy" than a normal person. Predestination does not preclude a genetic difference between "the elect" and all the other people.

Some people try to link it explicitly, but I would be more cautious about it. All I am suggesting is that just because it is "Eastern" and linked with various eastern religions and philosophies that the Christian does not discount it entirely and offhand.

Heres a link that provides the most lucid and useful account of the Kundalini. This person is also trying to link Eastern stuff and Christianity.

The Trembling

Here's the first post for the trembling. When and Why does one tremble before God?
